Green House in Texas revisited

When Ava and I traveled to Texas for the writing workshop we stayed with Baba and Pops. They are currently living in our Green House. The last time we saw the Green House was the day we left for Norman. Here we are last July, forgive the sleepy eyes. We'd been packing all night.

(The following pictures were taken by Baba and Pops while I was at the workshop.)
Ava was excited to see her house again. She spent many hours in this swing during her first two years of life.

Here she is in the same spot at 11 1/2 months.

Not sure what they were doing, but I'm guessing rocks were thrown in the water.

When Ava woke up and said she wanted to play in the water, her doting grandparents made it happen.

Thanks for giving the Bave such a fun day!

I'm not sure I ever posted an exterior shot of our lovely former abode. Here is our Castle on the day we moved.

As promised, here are the missing rooms from the last post.

Guest suite

Josh's study
(I love that there are French doors leading to the study. At least Ava and I will be able to peer through the windows and catch a glimpse of HLS at work. We will try really hard to resist the temptation to squish our noses to the glass and distract him.)

Formal dining room, ignore our puzzle sprawled all over the table

And now for an Ava story:
Sometimes Ava and I take M to karate class. During the Wednesday class I was going through a deck of flash cards with Ava to pass the time. We made it through almost the entire deck (I think she's ready for the next level of cards, actually) and arrived at this card near the end. Notice the last picture of the sheep that's just lost its wool.

Up to this point Ava had answered every question exactly correct. I was changing up the questions a little, trying to make them a little more challenging. So I asked her, "Tell me about the little sheep on the bottom."

Ava responded,"I think he feels embarrassed."

I tried to follow her train of thought and asked, "Why do you think he's embarrassed?"

She lowered her voice and cupped her hand around her mouth to whisper, "He just blew a toot."

Scroll back and look at the placement of that wool. See his face?

Picture me, snorting and heaving with laughter while a roomful of karate-enthused parents try to figure out what is so funny about a the nun-chuck routine taking place on the mat. We had to go outside (in 104-degree heat) so that I could compose myself. I made sure Ava understood why I was laughing, and that it wasn't anything she'd done wrong. She was cackling along with me once I explained what actually happened in the picture. What did I do before this girl came into my life?
(I decided to share this story just for you Aunt Hannah, knowing how much you adore our potty humor tendencies. Love ya'!)

Love the sheep story!! She is so funny!! She amazes me with her humor and intelligence. While staying here she looked at an odd clock I purchased at Ikea and said, that is an unusual clock. I responded with yes it is. What a big word for a 3 year old and used in right context.

Love you,
Mom, Baba

You are a good teacher, Autumn. Your student already knows how to "make connections" in her reading!
